AWAKEN YOUR ADVENTUROUS SIDE

The beach is mere meters away from the villa, for lazy sunset walks along the long stretch of Machangulo’s sandy coast. If you’re enticed by the warm Indian Ocean, make sure you bring your swimming gear to take a dip. Nearby activity centres provide whale watching, kite-surfing and deep-sea fishing experiences.

SANTA MARIA

Small village with a big heart

The quaint village of Santa Maria is just a short ride from the villa, and is captivating with its local culture. From there, you can take a boat ride to the nearby Inhaca Island, to spend the day scuba diving, snorkelling or fishing. A romantic cruise on the 24-foot catamaran is the perfect way to experience the entrancing Mozambique sunsets. End the day by savouring a local cocktail or beer, at Bemugi’s Bar.

EXPLORE NATURE

On foot or by car

The abundance of the biodiversity surrounding the villa is enrapturing, and best experienced on foot. You can truly appreciate the wonder of nature by hiking through the natural forest, to discover a myriad of birdlife, butterflies, small buck, and many other creatures. Miles of unspoiled coast are periodically visited by dugongs, humpback whales, Southern right whales, dolphins, vulnerable loggerhead turtles, and other awe-inspiring animals. For an exceptional African bush experience, private game drives can be arranged, where big game such as elephant, buffalo, hippo, giraffe and a range of buck species will leave you filled with wonder.

Inhaca Island

Hop on a boat from Santa Maria, and take a short trip across the channel to a marine reserve… the breathtaking Inhaca Island. This incredible natural heritage site is rich in fauna and flora, with a beautiful forest to explore, home to around 300 bird species found on the island. Anglers will appreciate the renowned fishing spot at the lighthouse, and snorkellers will savour the incredible coral reefs and the shipwreck, found just off the island.

Machangulo Nature Reserve

To organise a game drive at this bordering nature reserve, home to iconic African animals and impressive bird-life, including striking pink flamingos and diverse birds of prey, talk to our seasoned staff. Expect to be wonderstruck by the sight of elephants, who show no regard for international borders. These idolised animals are free to roam between Mozambique and South Africa, through a corridor, to Tembe Elephant Park. You can also look out for hippos, African fish eagles, buffalos, and some of Africa’s most iconic large antelopes.
